Danish Taiwan Cluster extends local presence in Taiwan

As announced in October last year, ProCon Wind Energy and a group of other Danish offshore wind experts formed a cluster to explore the possibilities in Taiwan. Now the Danish wind cluster takes a further step by establishing a joint office location in the capitol of Taipei.

“To support our current and future customers in the region, we decided to take our cooperation a step further. It provides great value as we see an increased request from our customers regarding being locally present. This is especially true for ProCon, as we need to be mobilized and ready for production in Taiwan before October. It also helps all the companies of the cluster in ensuring local content and dealing with the Taiwanese pipeline, which really takes off in the next couple of years.” says Claus Søgaard Poulsen, CEO of ProCon Wind Energy.

In relation to local content, ProCon and the rest of the cluster acknowledge that a greater focus on local content is required for the next round of projects in Taiwan while keep providing knowhow from Europe. The combination of local content and experienced offshore wind experts from Europe is also the key to minimizing total project cost in new markets and thereby staying competitive. That is why it makes sense for the companies to form a cluster and set up an office together even though we still operate as individual companies. The cluster and its office enable each company to bring in knowledge from Europe, share costs, provide local content and to be locally present and close to customers – all to stay competitive.

Beside ProCon, the cluster consists of A-LEAF, ALL NRG, Comtech Int., HYTOR and Site Solution Partners.
